Amenities at Moserwood include:

  • Night checks and weekly warm bran mashes for all horses on the farm during extreme conditions.
  • Matted 12x12 stalls with permanently mounted closed motor fans.
  • Blanket bars, halter hooks, electric outlet and saddle racks on all stall fronts.
  • Heated water buckets in the winter in both the stalls and turn out fields.
  • Moserwood features customized care and at least two acres of high quality pasture per horse, to ensure excellent grazing and individual attention for each horse. We have an exclusive contract with Louisville based Producer Feeds, a company that has provided feed for the racing community in Kentucky for well over a century. We have a custom blend grain mix that is re-evaluated regularly with the help of a Producer representative who visits the farm annually.

riding instruction - we have in-house introductory level riding instructors. We do allow outside coaches on the farm to give lessons to our boarders (valid liability insurance and ring fee required for outside instructors).

We also have skilled riders who can ride and exercise your horse as needed, general conditioning or dressage and jump training, for a fee per ride. More details about these services >>

breaking - We contract with Marco Orantez to run our breaking program seasonally. In the mornings he is an exercise rider at the racetrack, galloping for top trainers like Steve Asmussen - Marco was the regular rider of Curlin in Kentucky.
Marco and his hand-picked team of riders are great hands who are quiet and gentle, yet firm with the young horses. The horses are started in a calm and unhurried way, but with the confidence and skill of Marco and his team they move along quickly. Most horses are broke and ready to transition to the track in 45-60 days.
skilled handling - Our employees have extensive experience handling horses of all ages, and the skill to give your young horses the best possible start in their training.

retraining for retired racehorses - Our jumping ring, round pens, and acres of pasture and forest for trail riding make the farm an ideal area to school race horses for new careers.

In addition to training, we offer assistance with private sale and placement of horses utilizing internet marketing.

racetrack lay-ups - We consistently have lay-ups at Moserwood that go on to win their first start back at the track, and yearlings raised on the farm that go on to successful racing careers.
customized care - If your horse needs special care, we can handle it. Pictured here is stable manager Julian Perez applying specialized poultice for a foot problem.
shipping - We offer transportation service in our area for owners who need their horse picked up and brought to our farm, for broodmares to and from the breeding shed, and for local buyers who purchase one of our sale horses.
Shartle Horse Transport - We will arrange for safe professional shuttling of your mares and foals to and from area state bred programs, clinics or breeding shed runs.
private sales - We can help you sell a horse or help find the right horse for you when you're ready to buy. We are very experienced in buying and selling all types of horses including show horses, race horses and pleasure horses.
auction representation - For buyers who can't come to the Kentucky sales in person, we offer buyer representation at auction, including pre-sale inspection of horses.

Spacious stalls with the highest quality rubber matting, clean tack rooms and safe wash racks. Private paddock turnout or pasture turnout. Trailer storage available.
broodmare and foal care - We work with owners who want to take advantage of the Kentucky and Indiana breeding programs. We can help you with mating analysis for your broodmares, and guide you through the entire breeding process from booking a stallion to registering your foal. We provide complete care for broodmares, weanlings and yearlings.
foaling - We use the Foal Alert foaling monitor system for our broodmares - a bonus for owners who want to stay involved, and added safety for the mare and foal. The monitor calls the vet, the attendant and if desired, it will also call the owner when the mare starts to foal.
